"Sul ponte di Perati" - Italian WW2 Song (+English Subtitles)
16 Οκτ 2023
"Sul ponte di Perati" is an Alpine song of the "Julia" Alpine Brigade which in 1940 was engaged in the Greek campaign. The text and the melody have nothing to do with a well-known Alpine song composed at the end of the First World War, entitled Bandiera nera; in both cantos, however, the image of the bridge evokes a point of no return. In the Second World War, the Perati Bridge marks the beginning of the Greek campaign and the abandonment of Albanian soil, at the time under the occupation of fascist Italy. Subsequently, the melody was reused by Nuto Revelli, an alpine veteran from the Russian front, to compose Pietà l'è morti, one of the best-known partisan songs.
